Support art journalism

There are no longer any dedicated arts editors or writers employed in the mainstream media in South Africa. This has limited the quantity and quality of arts journalism and reduced opportunities not only for established writers but has dissuaded new writers from engaging with art outside of academic journals in a sustained manner and in a language that is accessible to the public.

This has limited the development of art itself - artists grow from feedback - and has cultivated artists and collectors who in the absence of accessible dialogues are preferring to create or buy commercially viable or fashionable art.
